Where to Start?
Where do I start? I'm trying to start a brewery from the ground up and have no idea where to start. I am although a home brewer and a pretty good one at that. I have practiced my skills as a brewer starting with extracts slowly working my way to the all grain method that most breweries do.
So where do I start? Do I slowly, and painstakingly save up the money to build it or do I go the route of investors who I will have to play to their mercy of what they think I should do with the products I am to produce? This question I have been trying to solve for the last year or so.
I know one thing though and that is I can make a pretty damn good pint of beer with what tools I have available. I know I brew the beer but how can I mas produce the recipes? This is a whole entirely good question that home brewers alike come up with. It is easy to make good beer but how do you make that same beer twice? that is the real trick to wooing customers into buying the product. I need the consistency that you see at other breweries like Lagunitas, Sierra Nevada, or Boulevard the list goes on. Not to mention the Macro breweries like Miller, Coors, Anheuser Busch that produce beer at ungodly amounts at their breweries all over the world but that is not what I want my product to be. I want to produce quality not quantity.
Where should I put My brewery? Well it is simple where can I market my product? That is where I should build. I was looking around and there is not too many microbreweries around me where I live in good old Pleasant Hill, California. So why not try in my own back yard (Literally for the Time being) to try to get a following and go from there. Way I see it I would be the only brewery in Pleasant Hill where I know there is a crowd of people that like good beer and I am pretty sure they like things that are produced locally. So Pleasant Hill it is going to be.
To Be Continued!!!!
